Aging as opportunity and challenge
We live longer. The increasing lifespan is both one of today's greatest successes and most complex societal challenges.
The opportunities and challenges are numerous both in Denmark and globally. How do we support healthy and meaningful years of life among the elderly across society? How do we wisely use welfare technology? How do we ensure flexible transitions from working life to senior life? How do we ensure good treatment and care for elderly citizens in a resource-pressed health and care system? How do we unlock potentials across generations and in civil society?
The demographic development with an aging population calls for strengthened research and innovation in interaction with the outside world to find sustainable solutions.

Our Approach
About UCPH - CARI
The University of Copenhagen's Collaborative Ageing Research Initiative (CARI) will serve as the facilitating platform for interdisciplinary ageing research in collaboration between the strong research environments at the University of Copenhagen and partners across the public, private, and civil society sectors. CARI will initiate and facilitate curiosity-driven ageing research that can lead to scientific breakthroughs and at the same time contribute to well-founded societal solutions.
CARI is located in a beautiful, protected building in the center of Copenhagen, behind the Medical Museion. The initiative is being developed in close cooperation with a broad spectrum of external actors and research environments across the University of Copenhagen.
